Tim and Alison have been married for an incredible 53 years. They have three children, six grandchildren, and a home filled with love, humour, and resilience.

Fran and Ron had reached a point where their existing bathroom was no longer safe or practical. They still valued their independence, but their old setup — especially the traditional bathtub — had become a real challenge.

Fran suffers with chronic spine problems and was finding it increasingly difficult to lift her right leg high enough to climb over the bath edge. Even with an NHS-provided bath chair, getting in and out safely was becoming risky and exhausting. Ron also worried constantly about her balance and comfort. They both knew it was time for a change.

Their Challenges

• Fran’s mobility difficulties made climbing into the bath painful and unsafe.

During the initial assessment, it was clear that the bath was no longer suitable. Fran needed an entry that required very little lifting or twisting. The bathroom needed to feel open and easy to move around in, with controls and fittings positioned so she wouldn’t need to strain, bend, or reach awkwardly.
